Welcome back

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you and your families are well and had a good half-term.

As we return to school after the half-term break, I thought that I would send you the updated protocols for keeping everyone safe.

You will have seen that the government have ended the legal duty to self-isolate. However, the guidance is still in place and we would ask that everyone continues to follow this guidance. We have some very vulnerable students in our school and we all need to work together to ensure their safety. As such, please follow the self-isolation rules as you would have done before half term. They are detailed in the protocols, if you need more detail.

The protocols remain very similar. I have removed any reference to students wearing face coverings - however, students who wish to wear a face covering can continue to do so.

In terms of staffing levels, as with all other schools, we are still experiencing higher than usual levels of illness. As you will know, we try our hardest to ensure that classes can remain open, but there may be times when it is simply not possible to have a safe level of staffing in a particular class. If this is the case, then we will have to close that particularly class. I will always try and give as much notice as possible of any closure, although sometimes the absences may not come through until the morning.

I am hope that the downward trend in cases continues, so that we can reduce our protective measures as soon as possible. However, as you will know, my first priority is always the safety of all students and staff at The Castle School and this is why I will continue with the attached protocols.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes,

Jon Hewitt
